Film Screening: Africa Mia | Fête de la Musique 2023

On the occasion of World Music Day, Arthshila Santiniketan in association with Alliance française du Bengale will be screening the movie Africa Mia, a film by Richard Minier et Edouard Salier on 23rd June at 5:30 PM at Arthshila Santiniketan. Africa Mia is a journey in search of the soul of Afro-Cuban music. From the communist friendships of the Cold War to the present day, from Havana to Bamako, we follow in the footsteps of ten young Malians in musical training in Cuba, who became a founding group of world music: the legendary Maravillas de Mali. Fifty years on, this forgotten group has been resurrected by maestro Boncana Maïga, its historic conductor.
